Julian heads the firm's Music and Publishing Groups. His practice, which is principally commercial, covers many related areas within the entertainment and media sectors. He has provided expert evidence in numerous high profile music business disputes including the case of John Wadlow v Henry Olusegun Adeola Samuel (pka Seal) decided in June 2006. He is a regular speaker and chairman at domestic and international conferences. Julian was the President of the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers from 1998 to 2001. This is the largest professional association of lawyers and business affairs executives with a global membership. He is also a founder member of Adlaw International, a global network of specialist advertising law firms of which Swan Turton is the sole UK member. Published works include editing Neighbouring Rights: Artists, Producers and their Collecting Societies, The Impact of Competition Law on the Music Industry and, most recently, Legal & Commercial Effects of Digitisation on the Music Industry. Julian was a founding partner of Swan Turton in 2005.
